In conclusion, I enjoyed my visit to Dossin barracks in Mechelen, especially because I got a guided tour. The entirety of the Dossin barracks is built around remembering the past and showing the consequences of when discrimination is taken to the extreme. It has many places to remember the people, like the big wall with victims or the dedicated memorial place in the Dossin barracks. It also has many places to learn how this situation could have gone this far, and thus how you can try to prevent something similar from happening. So, the barracks show the importance of remembrance and learning from the past. This is the inside of the barracks. Originally, there was no central structure in the middle, and it was more like a waiting room for the Death. Here, the gathered people (mostly jews) would be transported by train to execution camps.
